Apple sells a record 13 million iPhone 6s in the first weekend 

Another new iPhone model, another new iPhone sales record. Apple sold “more than” 13 million iPhone 6S and 6S Plus devices in the new phones’ first weekend on the market.
The sales “have been phenomenal” since the pair of new iPhones were released Friday, Apple CEO Tim Cook crowed in a press release on Monday. The 13-million figure is a new record for iPhone sales, and it’s 30 percent higher than the previous record.

Apple notched that previous opening-weekend record just last year, when the company sold 10 million iPhone 6 and 6 Plus models — but those numbers were muted by a delayed launch date in China. In 2013, Apple sold 9 million iPhones in the iPhone 5S and 5C’s first weekend.
